The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has marked its 2026 GRASAG Week with an educational outreach and donation exercise, urging senior high school students to pursue higher education while providing learning and sanitation supplies to two schools.
The outreach took place at Dadease Agric Senior High School and KNUST Basic School.
GRASAG donated educational and sanitation items, including packs of pens and pencils, Imperial Leather body lotions, eight dustbins and a lawn mower to Dadease Agric Senior High School. KNUST Basic School received boxes of Imperial Leather body lotion and biscuits, while the Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA) was presented with Imperial Leather body lotion and biscuits in appreciation of its continued support to the Association. The Imperial Leather products were sponsored by PZ Cussons Ghana.
Receiving the delegation, the Headmaster of Dadease Agric Senior High School, Mr. Francis Donkor, thanked the Association for the donation and the career guidance offered to students.
Addressing the gathering, the GRASAG President, Mr. Yussif Suleman, said the outreach formed part of the Association's commitment to promoting educational awareness and inspiring students to pursue higher education.
He encouraged students not to allow their circumstances to limit their ambitions.
"There is no shortcut to success. The journey may not be easy, but with determination, guidance, and hard work, your goals are achievable. Never look down on yourself," he said.
Graduate students and professionals from various colleges of KNUST led career guidance sessions covering science, engineering, business, agriculture, law and the built environment.
Francisca Gyimah, a Database Analyst, encouraged female students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), highlighting available mentorship and scholarship opportunities.
Godwin Agyei, a student of the Ghana School of Law, spoke on the discipline required to succeed in the legal profession and educated students on rape, defilement and gender-based violence, encouraging them to seek support whenever necessary.
Sandra Ntiamoah, an MSc Energy and Sustainable Management student, introduced students to career opportunities in engineering, including Civil, Aerospace and Geomatic Engineering.
Representing the College of Art and Built Environment, PhD candidate Divine Kwadwo Ametegor encouraged students to pursue careers aligned with their interests and abilities.
"Nothing should limit your choices as people," he said.
Yayrah Hussey, a Master's student in Agribusiness, urged students to view agriculture beyond farming by embracing agribusiness, value addition and entrepreneurship, while Ruth Afriyie Agyemang, an HR professional and Master's student at the KNUST School of Business, outlined the diverse career opportunities available to business graduates.
Following the interaction, the Association presented the donated items to Dadease Agric Senior High School, where they were received by the Senior Housemistress, Mariama Bello, and the Assistant Headmaster (Operations), Mr. Asante Alexander.
The delegation later visited KNUST Basic School, where the items were received by the Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Emmanuel Sarpong, and Mathematics teacher Mrs. Martha Donkor.
The outreach concluded with a courtesy call on the Directorate of Student Affairs, where the Association presented appreciation items in recognition of the Directorate's continued guidance and support. The items were received by Madam Theodora Odoru, Senior Assistant Registrar for Student Support and Financial Services, and Professor Akwasi Acheampong Aning, Deputy Director for Conduct and Discipline.
